After all, the controversy over circumcision, having been successfully resolved, is then extended to other matters having to do with the keeping of “Moses’ law” (v. 5). The conclusion that the Sabbath was not enjoined upon Gentile believers seems inevitable since the council declared that the list of items was complete: “It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to lay any additional burden on you” (v. 28). No other burden. No Sabbath.
